Last fall, Cypress Ranch's booster club called us three days before their first playoff game. They needed a 4x20 foot run-through banner, and their previous vendor had ghosted them. We had it ready for pickup the next afternoon. That's the reality of school printing in Cy-Fair—tight deadlines, specific requirements, and zero room for error when 8,000 people are watching your team burst through that banner on Friday night.
We've printed for nearly every high school in the district at this point. Here's what we've learned actually matters.
Run-Through Banners: The Details That Matter
Every booster club asks for the same thing: a banner their players can run through without it turning into a tangled mess. The secret isn't the material—it's the perforation pattern.
We use a vertical perforation down the center, spaced 2 inches apart, stopping 6 inches from the top and bottom. This creates a clean tear every time while keeping the banner intact enough to reuse 3-4 games if you're careful rolling it up.
What we recommend: 13oz scrim vinyl, not mesh. Mesh tears unpredictably. The 13oz gives you that satisfying pop when players break through. For the Cy-Fair FCU Stadium scoreboard banners, we bump up to 18oz because those stay up all season and take direct sun from 3pm onwards.
Fence Banners at CFISD Stadiums
The chain-link fences at Pridgeon Stadium and Cy-Fair FCU Stadium have 2-inch diamond openings. We've measured them. This matters because your grommet spacing needs to account for it—we place grommets every 18 inches and include zip ties rated for outdoor use.
One thing most vendors miss: wind load. The corridor between the home and visitor stands at Pridgeon creates a wind tunnel effect. We switched to mesh material with reinforced hems for any banner going in that section after a Langham Creek booster club had their vinyl banner torn during a October norther.
Senior Night Banners
These are emotional orders. Parents want them perfect. We learned to always get the jersey number AND the years on the team (not just senior year). The Cypress Woods volleyball program started a tradition where they display all four years of participation, and now half the schools in the district do the same.
Standard size: 2x6 feet works for most gym displays. For outdoor sports, go 2x8 so they're visible from the stands.
Pro tip: Order a test print of one banner first if you're doing a batch. We had a Cypress Falls soccer parent submit photos where half the players were in last year's jerseys. Caught it on the proof, saved them from an expensive reprint.
Graduation Banners for Berry Center
Berry Center has specific rigging points for banners. The standard backdrop size they accommodate is 8x20 feet. If you're doing individual graduate banners for the entrance, they allow 18x24 inch coroplast signs on easels—we provide the easels as loaners for graduation week.
For the Class of 2024 season, we printed over 200 individual senior yard signs for Cypress Ranch alone. The design template we developed includes the student's photo, name, college/career plans, and the school logo. Parents pick them up the week before graduation and display them in their yards around Bridgeland, Cypress Creek Lakes, and Towne Lake.
What We Keep in Stock for Rush Orders
Because CFISD schools call us for last-minute needs constantly, we keep blank 13oz white and school-color vinyl in standard widths. If Cypress Springs needs a "District Champions" banner by tomorrow, we can make it happen. Most print shops would quote you a week.
Current inventory: Cy Ranch maroon, Cy Woods crimson, Cy Falls gold/red, Cy Creek green, Langham Creek blue, Bridgeland navy, and Jersey Village purple. Yes, Cy Ranch maroon and Cy Woods crimson are different. The boosters will absolutely notice if you mix them up.
Budget-Friendly Options
Booster clubs operate on tight budgets. We offer affordable pricing and discounts for orders covering multiple sports in the same school. We'll also store your banners between seasons if you don't have space. About a dozen booster clubs take us up on that. Contact us for a quote tailored to your school's needs.
Stop by the shop on Cypress North Houston Rd or call us at (281) 985-9997. If you're picking up for a school event, mention the school name—we'll usually throw in a couple extra grommets and zip ties.
